Armbrust acres Citizen Patrol Log Form
Purpose:  We as residents of Armbrust Acres know our neighborhood is a great place to live.  We have fantastic homes and landscaping, friendly families, shopping areas close by and of course, the proximity to Lake Zorinsky.  We have much to be happy about and much to be proud about.  One way to insure we maintain a feeling of safety and security in our neighborhood will be to have some of our neighbors and HOA members, regularly “patrol” our streets and monitor unusual behavior or vehicles.

Program specifics:  The Armbrust Acres Citizen Patrol will be made up of “TRAINED” volunteers who have gone thru a training program put on by the Omaha Police Department.  Once these individuals are trained, they can then go out and drive around Ambrust Acres at a time which fits their schedules.  Each vehicle needs to have 2 volunteers in the vehicle, at least one of which needs to have gone thru the training.  The other individual may be “trained” however, OPD guidelines allow for a “RIDE ALONG” individual, someone who is not trained but has had their backround checked by the OPD.  The vehicle will have magnetic signs on it, identifying it as Citizen Patrol.  We would only patrol our Armbrust Acres neighborhood but could involve some of the Lake Zorinsky roads or parking lots.  If a patrol should spot a suspicious situation, the members are advised to contact the Omaha Police Department and report it.  We are not to confront the person or situation and will have no weapons of any kind in the vehicle.  In addition, signs labeling AA as a “Citizen Patrol” neighborhood, will be posted at the entrances to AA.  Currently in Omaha there are 35 active Citizen Patrol neighborhoods, ours happens to be the 35th.  Mayor Stothert and the Omaha Police Department supports this program and works with the neighbors in the program to keep all of us safe.

Goal:  Armbrust Acres has always been one of the greatest and safest neighborhoods in Omaha.  With the Citizen Patrol in place, we will be able to maintain that status and feeling of a Great Place to Live and raise a family.

If you are interested in obtaining more information or becoming a “Trained Volunteer” or a “Ride Along Volunteer” please email me and I will be happy to respond.
